Are you sending that email from the bathroom?

Get Shit Done isn't a double meaning for checking email on the toilet.

Are you like this woman? Most people go to the bathroom as soon as they wake up in the morning and right before bed. Are you so busy that within mere minutes of waking up, still bleary-eyed and stumbly, you grab your phone or laptop on the way to the bathroom and start checking your email?

Stop. Now.

I check email four times a day. I don't check until after my #1 task of the day is completed. I'm playing around with not checking at all until at least 10:00am. Give yourself at least 30 minutes in the morning before you check your email. Ideally you would get other things done first – top task, work out, eat breakfast, poo.

Don't check email right before bed. Why? Because you aren't going to do anything with it and now you have someone else's agenda on your mind right before you go to bed. Save it for tomorrow.

Scheduling your life and your bathroom activity around the email drip isn't good for your productivity or your stress or the hemorrhoids you're going to get from sitting for so long. Even worse? Talking on the phone in a public bathroom, but that's another story 🙂

GSD, but not while checking email.

Your Weekender Snapshot and Tim Ferriss’s Five Bullet Friday are my favorite emails I receive.
